Mcleodganj, also known as little Lhasa (situated at an elevation of 2,082 meters) is a magnificent hill station or a town which is located in the outskirts of Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.it is the home of Dalai Lama(spiritual leader of Tibetans). Bhagsu Waterfall, which is perhaps the famous picnic spots in Mcleodganj. It attracts many tourists who wish to get lost amidst the beauty and serenity of nature. There is a very famous temple named after the waterfall, Bhagsunath Temple, which is located half a kilometer from the Waterfall. Pilgrims and devotees can pay a visit to their devotion at the temple. Bhagsu waterfalls look stunning and captivating in the monsoon where the water falls from a height of 30 feet. There are many itsy bitsy eating stalls there which can offer you scrumptious and mouthwatering food.
Namgyal monastery, which is the largest Tibetan temple is a major crowd pleasure in Mcleodganj. It is believed that spiritual leader(god) of Tibetans –Dalai Lama used to reside here. This temple laid its foundation in the 11th century by the second Dalai Lama. The ambiance and aura that the temple creates, is enough to dazzle and enthrall a person with its holiness. You can find patriarch monk to tiny toads enchanting prayers and blowing horns in a rhythm.
Another picturesque and famous picnic spot in Mcleodganj is Dal Lake, named after the well-known and one of the incredible lakes in India, Srinagar’s Dal Lake. The lake is surrounded by the rugged mountains and steep deodar trees which looks astonishing. Make sure to carry your cameras to capture the scenic and serene view of this marvelous place. In the bank of the Lake, the Temple of Lord Shiva is located, making this place a perfect combination of leisure and Divine.
