Dal is a mid-altitude Lake situated near Naddi village of Dharamshala surrounded by Tall deodar trees. Note that there is a similar-named Laker in Kashmir also from where this Lake got its name. According to Hindu mythology, a sage named Durvasa prayed to Lord Shiva here. And therefore a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is also built on the bank of Dal Lake. Every year around September a fair is organized here by devotees of Lord Shiva which are mostly gaddi tribes living around Dharamshala. The Bhagsu water is also linked to dal lake somehow and taking a bath in the springs of Bhagsu or dal lake is considered holy.
There is a trail to walk around the lake and enjoy its beauty. you can also do boating here and enjoy the special type of momos stuffed with boiled potatoes which are available on its banks.
To reach this place you have to divert from the road going towards McLeodganj and proceed towards Naddi village, On the way you can easily depict the Lake from the vehicle. You can also reach here by walking or riding from Mcleodganj by a linked path through the woods.
